Section A: General

Section B: Card Types

Section C: Immortals

Gathering Edition Errata 1. General Game play

Q1.1 What cards wait for your Sweep Phase to be discarded?
A1.1 Only cards that you play during your turn (either from your hand, or any other source) that don't normally stay in play (i.e. attacks, Events, blocks, dodges, Edges, etc) wait for your next Sweep Phase to be discarded. Any other cards or effects which discard cards (either from play, your hand, your Endurance, etc) are immediate.

*Q1.2 How do Signature cards actually work?
*A1.2 Signature cards are much like Reserved cards in that only the Immortal named on the card (Immortal Specific name) may include the card into his deck. However, by no means can another Immortal, either by a Persona power or another card effect, include a Signature card in his deck if it is not specific to his Persona. On top of this, only that Immortal may play the card during the game. Lastly, the Restriction on a Signature card, if any, cannot be altered in any way.

2. Movie Edition Reprints

*Q2.1 Some Movie Edition cards are printed differently from their originals. Which version of the text should be used?
*A2.1 In all cases, except one (see Q2.4), use the new text on the ME reprints.

Q2.2 The Movie Edition reprint of Thief now states, "Lose 1 Ability for each Object that leaves play." Is this for your opponent's Objects or all Objects that leave play.
A2.2 Thief still removes all Objects from play, even yours. So you will lose 1 Ability for each Object that leaves play, no matter who's Objects they are.

Q2.3 I was putting together a set of the Movie Reprints and noticed that I didn't have one of the three different Upper Center Attacks. What's the deal?
A2.3 In layout, one of the other two pictures for the Upper Center Attack was used twice by mistake, so the third Upper Center Attack picturing Dugal MacLeod didn't make it onto the sheet.

*Q2.4 Where is Alertness: Hidden?
*A2.4 It's there, it just has the incorrect text. Alertness: Hidden is the one exception when using older ME cards. You can still use the older version over the new version.

3. Premiums

Q3.1 Can a Persona play with more than one Premium, as long as they are different? For example can Methos use his +1 Ability Premium, and his "Master cards cannot be countered" and Premium Darius?
A3.1 Yes. Each Premium is considered to have a Restriction of one by the rulebook. So you can have one of each Premium allowed to a Persona.

*Q3.2 I've gotten a few Premium cards that have the incorrect back on it. Are these still legal for play?
*A3.2 Part of a sheet was misprinted and was pulled from collation. However, it would seem that some of the cards made it into circulation. There are three types of cards that were misprinted: Some Premiums, the Master's Prize, and Inner Strength. Thuder Castle Games will exchange these cards if you send a self-addressed-stamped-envelope to:

Thunder Castle Games
c/o Premium Exchange
P.O. Box 11529
Kansas City, MO 64138

In exchange you will get one of two different cards for each misprinted card sent in; A Far Away Land or Spiritual Sanctuary. Both of these cards have been pulled from a future realease and are now only available in this exchange offer.

Q3.3 What does Spiritual Sanctuary do?
A3.3 Spiritual Sanctuary is a Location and reads, "While Spiritual Sanctuary is in play each player may use the power of one of his opponent's Quickenings in play. They must announce which one they will use when Spiritual Sanctuary is placed in play."

Q3.4 What does A Far Away Land do?
Q3.4 A Far Away Land is a Situation that is Restricted to 2 and reads, "While this card is in play, each player may have one Location in play. Any Locations played by either player replace their current Location, not their opponents. If this card leaves play, all Locations in play are also discarded without effect.

4. Attacks

Q4.1 Can the Upper Slash be played with a Head Shot.
A4.1 No. Any attack that is made a Head Shot is also considered to be a Power Blow. Since Slash cannot be a Power Blow, then it cannot be a Head Shot either.

5. Events

Q5.1 Using Breakout or Conjure can I put an Object into play which I added to my deck with the Darius Event?
A5.1 You can as long as you can play Darius with that Object. The Object is restricted from being played or put into play unless you can play the Darius with it.

Q5.2 My opponent has played an attack that cannot be dodge or he has something in play which prevents me from playing a dodge. Can I play Snake Bar even though I cannot play a dodge normally?
A5.2 Yes, this is an opportune time to play Snake Bar. By not playing a dodge, whether you can or not, you can play Snake Bar to prevent your opponent from playing a dodge as his first defense during his next turn.

6. Locations

Q6.1 If I block my opponent's attack then play Laundry Room, my opponent can't played blocks from his hand next turn, right?
A6.1 Not quite. The Laundry Room must be in play to see that the attack he play was unsuccessful. So you would have to have played Laundry Room first then play the defense.

Q6.2 Alright, I have Laundry Room in play first then play a block so my opponent can't play blocks from his hand next turn. However, before my opponent plays any defenses he plays a new Location getting rid of Laundry Room. Are my attacks still unblockable?
A6.2 Your opponent was only restricted from playing blocks from his hand while Laundry Room was in play. Now that it's gone, he can play blocks as normal. Laundry Room does not make attacks unblockable, it simply restricts how blocks are played.

7. Objects

No entries for Objects

8. Plots

Q8.1 After the 5 turns are over after playing the new Head Hunter Event: Plot, does my opponent regain his weapon or can he now roll to regain his weaon.
A8.1 Your opponent is still considered disarmed, but now he can roll to regain his weapon at the beginning of each of his turns.

Q8.2 If I have Forged Steel in play when I play the Head Hunter Event, does my opponent's weapon break?
A8.2 Yes, it does.

9. Situations

Q9.1 Kane's Nemesis says he must discard the top 2 cards off the top of his Endurance. Is this just at the beginning of his next turn after the turn the Nemesis is put into play, or is it at the beginning of each turn?
A9.1 While his Nemesis is in play, Kane must discard the top 2 cards of his Endurance at the beginning of each of his turns.

Q9.2 Asgard says that either play may look at his opponent's hand at any time. Even when it's not my turn?
A9.2 Correct. Any time during the game, whether it's your turn or not, you can look at your opponent's hand. To make things easier, you and your opponent may agree to play with your hands face up on the table.

Q9.3 What if I had both Covers out?
A9.3 Then both you and your opponent cannot play Right or Left attacks. This does leave Center attacks available though.

Q9.4 If I have Master's Sanctuary and a Factory out, is Factory discarded if I have 5 or less cards in my hand?
A9.4 Yes. When ignoring the effects of cards, you can only ignores effects that instruct you to perform an action, restrict you from performing an action, or effects that will adjust your Ability. In Factory's case, being discarded is a condition of Factory and doesn't have a direct effect on you. See The Methos FAQ, Q3.1.

Q9.5 I have a Situation in play with two Security Guards on it. My opponent then plays Influence. What happens?
A9.5 Your opponent decides the order in which he rolls the die to see if a Situation is removed from play. To get the best results, he should roll for each of the Security Guards first, before the Situation. This way, if he's lucky, there may not be any Security Guards around when he rolls to remove the Situation.

10. Edges

Q10.1 Will Bait and Switch work against Katana's Taunt or just Extra Shots?
A10.1 It will work against any card that prevents you from playing a defense unless that defense comes from an Exertion. So it will work against Katana's Taunt and most Extra Shots. See Errata.

Q10.2 Does the Kurgan get an additional point of damage on top of the point of damage done by Brawler when playing a Dirty Trick?
A10.2 Yes, he does. Since the attack now does damage, any effects which would add to this damage will now work as well.

Q10.3 Will Detective Walter Bedsoe work against Plots cards of the same title?
A10.3 No. As it states on the card, "This does not effect Situation: Plot cards."

Q10.4 How about Precinct?
A10.4 Yes. Precinct isn't restricted to the type of Situations it will removed.

Q10.5 Can I play two cards from an Exertion when using Memories?
A10.5 Esentially, yes. If you make an Exertion to search for a defense during your Defense Phase and play Memories before hand, you could pull a Special/Edge card from the Exertion and play a defense from it as well. Then, during your Attack Phase, you could play that Special/Edge card thereby actually playing two cards from the Exertion you made earlier in the turn.

Q10.6 Do I have to show the card I pull for Memories to my opponent before putting it into my hand?
A10.6 No.

Q10.7 Can I play Memories after playing Treachery to pull a card from the Exertion my opponent make from his Endurance?
A10.7 No. You can only pull cards from Exertions which come from your own Endurance.

Q10.8 If my opponent plays Misfortune on my Discard Weapon which is now an Object due to the Sheath Weapon Edge, can I roll to recover my weapon as normal?
A10.8 Yes, you are still considered disarmed and follow all the rules for being disarmed.

Q10.9 What if my opponent has Sheathed his weapon then has taken my using Connor's Master's Disarm? Do I still get to roll to regain my weapon?
A10.9 Yes. Though it appears he has both weapons, there is nothing in the rules or cards in play which prevents you from rolling to regain a new weapon. Only if your weapon was broken or there is some effect in play would you be prevented from rolling to regain your weapon.

11. Clan MacLeod

*Q11.1 Can I use the Clan MacLeod cards with Richie or by using Darius?
*A11.1 No, they are Signature cards. See Q1.2.

Q11.2 If I have more than one Bagpipes in play, do I get an additional attack for each?
A11.2 No. Bagpipes would have to say that you get an additional attack for 'each' Bagpipes in play, but it doesn't.

12. Connor MacLeod

Q12.1 If I have Solitude in play and I also have 3 Allies in play, do I have to draw 3 cards if I decide to draw cards at the beginning of my turn?
A12.1 No. You can draw up to 3 cards, but are not forced to draw 3 cards if you decide to draw.

13. Corda and Reno

Q13.1 Can I play a Basic Attack after playing Back Away then discard Equalizer to make it a Ranged Attack?|
A13.1 No. Since Equalizer can only be discarded 'after' a Basic Attack is played, any restrictions on playing the Basic Attack must still be followed. So you cannot play the Basic Attack after playing Back Away because it is not a Ranged Attack.

[ERRATA?]

Q13.2 Can I play any modifying Edge cards with a Basic Attack before making it a Range Attack by discarding The Equalizer?
A13.2 Yes. You can do such nasty things as playing Lunge with a Basic Attack then discarding The Equalizer to make it a Ranged Attack.

Q13.3 If my opponent plays Focus on Grapple, do I lose 1 Ability?
A13.3 No. By being Focused, the text box on Grapple is considered nullified. Not only is Grapple still in play because the title is not removed, but it no longer has the text which does damage to you if it does leave play.

14. Iman Fasil

Q14.3 Will Fleche let me play Back Away to avoid a Ranged Attack?
A14.4 No. Unlike Methos' Superior Tactics (see The Methos FAQ, Q5.2), Fleche doesn't ignore the complete effects of the dodge played. It just allows you to attack normally if the dodge has any restrictions stating otherwise.

Q14.4 If I played Circular Parry (Watcher Chronicle's) during my Defense Phase, will this add 1 to make chances with Master's Disarm?
A14.4 No. Circular Parry only adds the additiona 1 in 6 chance if you play the Disarm card, not just any attempt to disarm your opponent.

15. Kane

Q15.1 What's with Kane's Persona?
A15.1 Kane's and Yung Dol Kim's Personas were misprinted. When playing Kane, use the powers printed on the back of the Yung Dol Kim Persona. See Errata.

Q15.2 Can Kane play two cards from an Exertion using Divination?
A15.2 Essentially, yes. See Q10.5.

Q15.3 Can Kane play Divination as well as Memories to take two cards from an Exertion an put them in his hand?
A15.3 Yes. You would resolve the effects of either card separate, hence pulling two cards from the Exertion (possibly three if the Exertion was made to search for an attack of defense) and putting them into your hand.

Q15.4 Will Ephermeral Wound protect you against a Head Shot?
A15.4 No. Ephermeral Wound only prevents the damage of an attack. You would have to block or avoid the attack to prevent losing your head.

Q15.5 If I play Shapeshift to exchange a Situation I have in play for my opponent's Dojo, can I use the cards already under the Dojo as if they were my own?
A15.5 Yes. If the cards are ever discarded or leave playi after using them (or if Dojo is discarded) then all cards return to their original owner's discard pile.

Q15.6 If I play Taunt, can I opponent still play a defense if he doesn't have one to discard?
A15.6 No. He must discard a defense if he plays a defense, otherwise he can't play that defense. See also SE/ME FAQ, Q13.10.

16. Kastagir

Q16.1 Does the additional point of Ability Loss come from Blood Brothers or from the Boom Boom?
A16.1 The additional point is considered to be coming from the Boom Boom.

17. Khan

Q17.1 Can I play multiple Armorer's in one turn, so that I have each piece of Armor in play in a single turn?
A17.1 Yes.

Q17.2 How much additional damage does a successful attack I play do if I have Plunder and 3 Objects in play?
A17.2 The attacks will do 1 additional damage for every 2 Objects you have in play. In this case, you have 3 Objects, so the attacks would do 1 additional damage. If you put out a fourth Object, then they would do 2 additional damage.

18. Kurgan

Q18.1 The last line on Kurgan's Master's Head Shot states that it is a Power Blow. Is this true whether it is a Head Shot or not?
A18.1 Yes. In any case, whether it becomes a Head Shot or not, Kurgan's Master's Head Shot is considered to be a Power Blow.

Q18.2 Since Kurgan's Master of the Hunt is a Situation: Plot, does this mean it's effects stack if there is more than one in play?
A18.2 No. Only cards that effect Ability or state that they stack will stack.

19. The Sorceror Nakano

Q19.1 If I have Weapon's Training in play, do I get an additiona attack for ALL Master cards in play or just Master cards I have in play?
A19.1 You would be able to play an additiona attack for each Master card in play no matter who's Master card it is.

Q19.2 Does that include Master cards that are in play waiting for the next Sweep Phase?
A19.2 It sure does. All cards waiting for their next Sweep Phase are considered to be in play.

20. Yung Dol Kim

Q20.1 What's with Yung Dol Kim's Pesona?
A20.1 Kane's and Kim's Personas were misprinted. When playing Yung Dol Kim, use the powers printed on the back of the Kane Persona. See Errata.

Q20.2 Kim's Persona power states that he may play non-Ranged attacks as blocks. Does this include Special Attacks?
A20.2 Yes. Any attack that is not a Ranged Attack, be it a Special Attack or not, Yung Dol Kim can play as a block.

*Q20.3 Kim's power also states that if you have an Extra Weapon in play, you can discard the top two cards of your Endurance to block a Power Blow. Do I still need to play a block?
*A20.3 Yes. What the power means is that you can discard the top two cards of your Endurance to make a block a Power Block. But you still need to play that block.

*Q20.4 Do I get an additional attack for each Extra Weapon I have in play?
*A20.4 No. It doesn't matter how many Extra Weapons you have in play, you will get only one additional attack.

Q20.5 Can I discard a Run Away I have in play to prevent damage from one Event, Edge, Location, or Situation as well as an attack?
A20.5 It does not matter what the card is or what it does. If it does damage, you can discard a Run Away you have in play to prevent that damage.

21. Juan Sanchez Villa Lobos Ramirez

Q21.1 Ramirez' Master's Advantage says, "While this card is in play, all the text on your opponent's Persona is ignored. If the persona power allows them additional cards in their deck, they may not play those cards." Does this mean my opponent cannot play any of his Immortal Specific cards?
A21.1 No. Only the text box which contains the power of the Immortal is ignored. Any powers they may have had which allowed them to add certain cards to their deck (i.e. Richie, Methos), they may not play those cards during the game while Master's Advantage is in play. So Richie could not play any cards from other Immortals unless he had a Darius Event to play with them. And Methos could not play any Master cards from other Immortals which he has added to his deck.

Q21.2 If my opponent had Master's Advantage in play, does this mean I can no longer play Master cards since my Persona no longer says that I can have them?
A21.2 No. The rules for Master cards say you must be using a Persona to include Master cards in your deck. Further, the Persona will give you a limit to the number of Master cards you can use. If Master's Advantage ignores this text, then essentially there is no limit to the number of Master cards you can have in your deck. However, since you can't add Master cards to your deck in the middle of a game, Master's Advantage won't harm or hinder you in this way.
