NEW FORUMS ON STEALTH DAVE WEB SITE - 1:45am, PST
Wow, this hasn't been updated in a while! There's a new section to the Stealth Dave web
site... FORUMS!!! Now
you can post messages about Highlander and other cool stuff right here! The forums link is
at:http://www.stilldesigning.com/forums
I'll be adding links to the navigation menu soon, as well as some minor updates
to the site. Most of the new improvements will be fairly minor; updated menus, and a
publishing script to make this "news" section easier to update (and *hopefully*
get it updated more often! ;-). I'm also working on Tournament Director 2.0,
which will be faster, more reliable, and add a couple of new features. Stay tuned! |

END GAME RULES PROPOSAL - 5:43pm,
PST
Sam Orlando has announced new rules to end games quickly in a timed match situation (i.e.
Tournament play). These rules are currently under review and are meant as a replacement
for the First Blood rules. From Sam's post:END
GAME (Proposed 7/20/99)
The time for each round of tournament play should be 20 minutes before End Game is
called.
Option: You may choose to use a d6 to add some additional minutes to prevent timing by
players.
(Note: This set time is to make sure games don't last longer than 30 minutes and allow
us to easily run an entire tournament within the 4 hour slot times during conventions. You
may modify or not use a time allotment for your tournaments as you see fit.)
When time is called during a game, play continues as normal until the player who went
first at the beginning of the game begins his next turn.
At this time, both players shuffle their hands into their Endurance and draw up to
their Current Ability. Any draw prevention or cards triggered by this draw are nullified.
Exhaustion may still occur.
Play then continues with the following stipulations
* Any Ability Gain or Ability Increase effect during End Game is nullified.
* Any player not playing an attack during his turn will lose 1 Ability during his Ability
Adjustment Phase of that turn. If his opponent has a card in play preventing him from
playing an attack, this Ability Loss is nullified.
* Any player drawing cards loses 1 Ability for each card drawn. If his opponent has a card
in play which forces him to draw cards, Ability Loss for the cards drawn is nullified.
* The first player to begin his Attack Phase with an Ability of zero or to lose his head
loses the game.

NEW NEXUS SITE OPEN - 5:33pm,
PST
There's a new Nexus web site designed by yours truly, Stealth Dave, now open at Thunder
Castle Games' web site! All Tournament Requests and Results Submissions are now done
online. All upcoming tournaments are now listed online, as well as the complete results of
all tournaments submitted through the new site. Here's the press release:That's right, there is a new Nexus Web Site running the new Tournament
Director software created by David E. Still at Still Designing.
http//www.tcgames.com/cgi-bin/nexus/main.asp
http//24.124.30.5/cgi-bin/nexus/main.asp
(Use the latter address until the Domain Name is working)
All you need to access the site is a 3.0 or greater version of either IE, Netscape, or
AOL with JavaScript enabled (4.0 or greater IE or Netscape recommended). The new site
includes
- Updated Nexus Rankings
- List of ALL upcoming tournaments around the world!
- Listings of all recent tournament winners
- Complete tournament results listings, including Tournament grid
- Complete Nexus History, including past rankings adjustments
- Request Tournament Sanctioning ON-LINE
- Submit Tournament Results ON-LINE
You can search for tournaments by Region or by Tournament Director. If you're a Nexus
Member, you can request Tournament Sanctioning by entering your Nexus Number and your
local Zip Code. Search for Nexus listings Alphabetically, by Nexus Number, by Last Name,
or get a list of the current Top 50 players in the world! You can even request Towers In
Time tournaments!!!
The new site also automates many of TCG's functions, including updating ratings and
creating Prize Package and Prize Winner letters, which will allow TCG to speed up prize
mailings and tournament requests! If your tournament has special needs, just type them
into the Notes for TCG section of the Tournament Request Form.
If you have outstanding tournament results that you have not yet sent in to Thunder
Castle Games for tournaments between 6/15/99 and 7/31/99, you can submit those tournaments
on-line by Requesting Tournament Sanctioning for that tournament again and then submitting
the results through the on-line forms.
Please direct any comments, suggestions, or errors that you find to dave@stilldesigning.com. Special thanks goes out
to the crack team of Beta-Testers that helped ensure that the new Nexus site was ready for
the masses. You will be able to find their names in the on-line documentation, which will
be on-line by the end of the week. |

THUNDER CASTLE GAMES NOW OWNED BY SQUARE PLANET - 5:23pm, PST
Thunder Castle Games is now owned by Square Planet! Here's the press release that was sent
to the Highlander Mailing List:STOP THE PRESSES
HOLD THE ORDERS
THERE ARE THINGS HAPPENING IN KANSAS CITY THAT NEED YOUR ATTENTION
THUNDER CASTLE GAMES IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE ITS PARTNERSHIP WITH SQUARE PLANET, INC.
Square Planet, Inc. a software and web developer is producing in conjunction with Thunder
Castle Games the online HighlanderTCG game system and is taking over the development
and maintenance of the Thunder Castle web site and introducing the online
Tournament request and submission system. As well as developing an exciting Highlander
online project yet to be announced.
Contact numbers for Square Planet are at the following numbers
Voice 816-525-4625
Voice 816-525-4890
Fax 816-525-4564
These numbers will be good for contacting Thunder Castle Games as our new offices are
in the same building. Just let them know who you want to talk to and you will be
transferred to the appropriate party.
The past few weeks have been both hectic and exciting. Many of you may have tried to
contact us at the old number and gotten a no longer in service or disconnected message.
Well no more. The new phone system is in place and we are anxious to get back to you our
customers and our supporters.
The website is being updated with the exciting new online Tournament request and
reporting system. This new system will greatly streamline the request, processing, and
updating of tournament information. Not only will it allow you to see what tournaments are
upcoming, but the location, director, and results of tournaments as well. I believe that
once you see this rocking new tool you will find it to be exciting and useful.
The way it will work is in order to enter a tournament request you must enter in your
NEXUS number and zip code then all the information for that tournament. You must also have
an email address for this because confirmation will be automatically sent to your via
email. You will be assigned a tournament code and a tournament password. Once the event
has occurred you will have two weeks to input the results from the event. We will go in
once a week and print out the tournament winners and process the Quickenings and get those
out. The neat thing about this system is that you will have up to date NEXUS rankings also
because it calculates them for you when you enter the winners and losers for the
tournament. Once the tournament results have been submitted you can go and look at the
tournament and see how you placed against your opponents.
Highlander Online; that's right Highlander TCG online. It will play just like
the game you play now and you will have the capabilities of using this tool for deck
construction and trials for tournament play with the cards you already have in hand. These
are exciting times and we guarantee that you will enjoy the ride.
We are almost sold out of the Duncan and Methos Collections. We have
approximately 175 of each set left so if you have been thinking about getting one, now is
the time they are almost gone. Never to be sold again by TCG.
We look forward to your calls and questions.

Just when the symptoms of withdrawl were starting to subside, the source of our addiction
has returned. That's right, Vincent and Eljay have returned and they brought the mailing

TCG CHATROOM DOWN; BARNES CHAT UNAVAILABLE - 5:43pm,
PST
The Java Chatroom hosted by TCG is experiencing technical difficulties. This has resulted
in the postponement and possible cancellation of Jeff Barnes' scheduled chat. I'll let you
know more details on rescheduling when I get them. SHAUNCON REPORT
- 5:12pm, PST
Better late than never, here's a breakdown of Jonathon Halperyn's Shauncon report:
- Thundercon promo was released, but only one per attendee, unlike the mass
quantities of Dragon Con promos that were released at that convention.
- A new TCG "Rip" card was released for TCG employee Keri Smith.
These cards were also not distributed en masse, but were handed out regularly after
tournaments.
- The Swordmaster System is getting a slew of new licenses, including Vampirella,
Lady Death, Shi, and Conan. These games will all be compatible with each other through the
Swordmaster system.
- The latest Castle News was released. In addition to updated Nexus Rankings, the
issue includes a Tournament Guide with "floor rules" and other resources for
tournament directors.
- MASTER FORMAT - As many had thought (and feared), the new "Master"
Format is about 10 pages of errata to give every card in the game their own "Easter
Egg" icons. I'm not even going to try to explain what the Easter Eggs mean here; it
would take too long and I'm still not sure myself. As soon as I receive it, I will try to
post the rules for the Master Format in its entirety.
- And last but definitely not least, Jerry Cook is the new Missouri State
Champion! Congratulations, Jerry!

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER

SECOND LA CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER COMPLETED - 11:53pm,

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER
20, 1998 |
WEEKLY POLL ADDED - 5:32am,
PST
I've added a weekly poll to the news site. Each week I'll choose a new
topic for the poll, which could be anything from "Who's your favorite 'K'
persona" to "Do you like TCG's latest proposed rules?" The first poll
is a browser poll so I can get a better idea of what my audience is, and hopefully give
you a better site as a result. SHAUNCON XVI - 2:25am, PST
Yes, I know it's been a slow news week, but there's no mailing list and IT'S ONLY
HIGHLANDER! Sheesh! :) Anyhow, Shauncon starts today! In addition to
gobs of Highlander tournaments, we also can (reportedly) look forward to:
- Missouri State Championship
- Release of the Thundercon promotional card
- Rules for the new Master format (and what do those darn Easter Eggs mean!)
- SwordMaster Fantasy Roleplaying, TCG's new RPG system, debuts!
While I am unable to attend Shauncon due to financial reasons, I do have my
agents working the floor and will hopefully be receiving updates throughout the weekend!
