Why Did Stealth Dave Get A Sponsor?

First off, there's the obvious: I could use the money. :)

Second, this page does take a considerable amount of time to maintain not only the content, but the appealing manner in which it is presented.  That's not to say that I regret the time that I put into this site; far from it.  I truly enjoy providing this service to the Highlander community.  Not to mention the Trekkies and Transformer fans.

And finally, the sponsor I chose, Amazon.com, provides an excellent service.  Almost every book imaginable on any subject you can think of, all at reasonable prices.  But they do more than books!  They also do music, games (including many RPG resources), and movies!  This includes DVDs; many of which start at %30 off of their suggested price!

What I did not want to do is put a huge banner at the top of every page (like you see above).  Since I had wanted to redesign the site navigation bar anyway, this provided me with an opportunity to put a discrete advertisement on the site that would not affect your download times.  In fact, the new navigation bar (advertisement and all) should improve your page download times since the frame does not reload with every page.

What Does Stealth Dave Get Out Of This, Exactly?

For every item that you purchase at Amazon.com after linking their from my page, I earn %5 of that sale.  If you buy one of Stealth Dave's Recomended Books, I earn %15 of that item's price.  Recomendations that are not books earn me %5.

So if you find anything that you like, whether through my recomendations or not, great.  That's one reason that I did it.  If not, don't worry; you won't hurt my feelings. :)  Nor will the site suddenly disappear if no one buys through my link.  But I do hope that you at least check them out.  They are providing a unique and useful service on the web.  I've used them myself, and they provide prompt and reliable service (it only took 3 days to get the book that I ordered, which the local stores didn't carry!).  I invite you to check them out.
